Useful Information

In these pages we are able to provide a treasure trove of information that may help all caravanners and campers with all aspects of day to day camping.

Some information is provided by from the Camping and Caravanning Club, other information is provided by Club members, and other information is gathered together here from various sources around the internet. Towing Wiring Diagrams

Information about the wiring of the connecting cables for all caravans and trailers including the 12N (Black plug), the 12S (Grey plug) and the new 13pin Euro Plug as used on modern caravans.

Leisure Batteries

Most modern caravans have three sources of power – gas, mains electricity and a twelve volt battery. If you run out of gas and you’ve left your mains cable at home you’ll still be able to power your caravan lights, water pump and other twelve volt appliances provided that your battery is in good condition.

Solar Power

For many people, camping and caravanning are about ‘getting away from it all’ and not being tied down – even to an electric hook-up point. Add to this the cost of a nightly electrical connection and the fact that many of us like the idea of reducing our use of fossil fuels (both through the national grid or a petrol-powered generator) and solar power seems to have much going for it.

Buying a Second Hand Caravan

If you’ve never considered buying a caravan before or if you have previously owned a tent, trailer tent or motor caravan and you’re now contemplating the purchase of a tourer then we’ve put together some good advice to help you in your search.
